The Covid-19 pandemic has created unprecedented times for workers in all fields. This is no more true than for those in the entertainment industry. 12million workers found themselves not only out of the job, but out of an industry. In March of 2020 the entertainment industry, reliant on large groups of guests, was faced with the stark reality that a timeframe for our return was uncertain. That remains true today. Concerts, conventions, theater, music festivals, are all canceled across the country with no true end in site. There are several national organizations mobilizing to take on the challenges our industry is facing. The goal for the Backstage Hope Project (a registered 503(c)3 nonprofit) is to provide direct support to those entertainment industry workers in Nevada and specifically in the hard hit area of Las Vegas.
Using large scale projection technology, we want to send a message of hope to the many entertainment industry professionals that have been affected by the pandemic.
We are organizing drive-thru distributions for people in need to get food, water and hand sanitizer. We are partnering with several AV companies to donate hand sanitizer created by Froggys Fog, a company known for making effects equipment and fog fluid for the entertainment industry.
In conjunction with our food and sanitizer donations, we are creating a contact free form of entertainment for those coming to the event. Our hope is to create a more pleasant environment and lower the stigma of getting a "handout". This will give us an opportunity to put into practice possible methods to keep techs safe in an entertainment environment.
